The authorities of Rajshahi University (RU) have become positive finally to hold the long-awaited election to the Rajshahi University Central Student Union (Rucsu) which was dysfunctional for 29 years.
After publishing the draft voter list of Ducsu polls recently, different students’ organisations of RU be aware to hold the Rucsu polls immediately and the organisations also has been expecting that the university authorities will pay heed in this regard as soon as possible.
According to the administration sources of the university, the authorities will positive to hold Rucsu polls. The authorities will also be agreeable to discuss with the university’s existing different students’ organisations.
In reply to a question, Mohobbot Hossain Milon, a convener of RU unit Progressive Students’ Alliance and an education and political affairs’ secretary of the university’s Bangladesh Chhatra Federation said that they are ready to participate in the Rucsu polls. The university had remained dysfunctional for 29 years. If the polls is not being hold immediately, they will go for a tougher agitation again, also said he.
Imtiaz Ahmed, president of RU unit Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal said, the Rucsu polls should be given as soon as possible ensuring equal rights of the university’s sutudents’ organisations.

RU vice chancellor professor M Abdus Sobhan regarding Rucsu polls said The New Nation that if the students want the polls, they have no any objection to hold the polls. The University authority will discuss over the mater with the students and different students’ organisations of the university very soon. Then, a concrete decision will have taken to hold Rucsu polls, said the VC.
