UNB, Laxmipur :
An alleged robber was killed and another was injured by bullets as rivals opened fire on them over sharing looted money at Deopara in Sadar upazila early Monday. The deceased was identified as Bahar Uddin, second-in-command of notorious robber gang ‘Nasir Bahini’ and son of Abul Hashem of the area.
Police said, Bahar and Sumon had an altercation with some other members of their gang over sharing the looted money in the wee hours of Monday.
At one stage, the rival gang members opened fire on them, leaving Bahar dead on the spot and Sumon injured.
Sumon received treatment secretly for avoiding police arrest. On information, police rushed in and sent the body of Bahar to sadar hospital morgue for autopsy. Bahar was wanted in several cases, including of murder, robbery and extortion, said Humayun Kabir, Officer-in-Charge of Chandraganj Police Station.
