Staff Reporter: Several thousand workers of an apparel factory on Thursday blocked a road in Savar for two and a half hours demanding their arrears.
The RMG workers of Raquef Apparels Washing & Packaging Industry blocked the Hemayetpur-Singair road which is used as Dhaka and Manikganj connectivity.
After negotiation between law enforcers and worker leaders, the workers took position inside the factory leaving their outpost’s spot.
Vice-President of National Garment Workers Federation Mohammad Kabir Hossain confirmed it.
He said also that further decision will be taken after talking to the factory authorities but for now the workers have agreed to clear the roads and take the protest to the compound of the factory.
The workers of Raquef Apparels Washing & Packaging Industry alleged they were supposed to get paid for the month of January within the first week of February, however, the authorities said they would pay the salary within the day.
In the first hour, when the workers entered the factory, this morning, they did not find any authorities nor did they get paid.
Then the workers to take to the streets.
