Former head coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Steve Rhodes is the consultant of Cumilla Warriors. He has joined Cumilla Warriors for the upcoming Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket. The BPL Cricket will start on January 21.
An official of Cumilla Warriors said, ” Steve Rhodes has joined Cumilla Warriors as the consultant of our team. Our players were eagerly waiting to work with him.”
Earlier, the England-born cricketer was the head coach of Bangladesh National Cricket team from June 2018 to 2019 World Cup. According to agreement between the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Steve Rhodes, Rhodes’ tenure was up to November 2020. But the failure of Bangladesh Cricket team in World Cup 2019, the BCB did not extend his tenure.
Local coach Mohammad Salahuddin is the Head Coach of Cumilla Warriors. Steve Rhodes is the consultant of Cumilla, which emerged the champions of the BPL Cricket for two times.
It may be mentioned that under supervision of Steve Rhodes, the head coach of Bangladesh team, the Tigers won a Tri-Nation Cricket Tournament.
BSS adds : Head Coach of Cumilla Warriors Mohammad Salahuddin said, “If something happens, it is for the benefit of the team. I don’t think it’s (the appointment of Rhodes as consultant) a bad thing at all. Because he is a very experienced coach. He was also the coach of the Bangladesh team. I think he was also one of the most successful coaches in Bangladesh. Something very good could come out of his head.” Salauddin also is keen to learn from Rhodes as a coach. “Since he is coming as our consultant, I also think I can learn a lot from him. If something can be taken from someone, it’s really good.”
“He is a nice soul. The whole team is thrilled to get him. He gave some very good advice on how to do it and what not. If something good happens, it should be taken positively.”
