BSS, Dhaka :
Central leaders of the ruling Awami League yesterday called upon the party leaders-workers to remain united so that the enemy forces could not launch any attack.
“Conspirators are not sitting idle and conspiracies have not ended as yet. So, we have to remain united. We don’t want any clash or conflict but we want to remain united,” they said while speaking at a discussion in the city.
On the concluding day of the 40-day programme of the ruling Awami League, its Dhaka City unit organised the discussion at the auditorium of the
Institution of Engineers in the capital marking the 40th anniversary of martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Acting president of Dhaka City Awami League (AL) MA Aziz chaired the discussion, also addressed, among others, by AL Advisory Council member Amir Hossain Amu, presidium member Begum Matia Chowdhury, general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Dhaka City AL general secretary Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram), AL organising secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam and vice-chancellor of Jagannath University Dr Mizanur Rahman. Dhaka City AL publicity secretary Abdul Huq Sabuj conducted the discussion.
Speaking at the discussion as the chief guest, Amir Hossain Amu said, “We have to remain vigilant and united so that no enemy could launch any attack upon us. Following the killing of Bangabandhu and most of his family members on August 15 in 1975 in a counter-revolution, the defeated forces of independence thought that bloods of Bangabandhu would not talk again and that’s why the infamous indemnity ordinance was promulgated to stop trial of the gruesome assassination.
