Relief Ministry team visits Rangamati today

A 16-member team of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief will visit the district on Tuesday to assess the extent of losses and identify the causes behind the recent landslides.
Visiting the affected areas the team will make recommendations for the rehabilitation of the affected people
Earlier on June 13, at least 120 people were killed in the hill district in landslides triggered by heavy rain.
More than 2,000 people who had moved to 19 shelters in the district started retuning to their homes amid risk.
Some of them, who lost their houses, are being shifted to four shelter centers located in Rangamati Stadium and Gymnasium, Rangamati Government High School Auditorium and Rangamati Medical College dormitory.
Md Manjarul Mannan, Deputy Commissioner of Ranamati, said the affected people, who lost their houses and took shelter in the shelter centers, are being shifted to the four shelter centers as the district administration has decided to close the 19 shelter centers.
People, who live on slopes of the hills, have been facing risk of landlsides as rains continued here since Sunday night due to monsoon.
