A news item circulated by bdnews24.com and published by The New Nation on Thursday under the caption “Hall-Mark money in Transcom, ACC probes” was termed by Transcom as false.
In a rejoinder on Friday, it said the news is aimed at tarnishing the image of Transcom.
It further said: “The report wrongly suggests collusion and wrong-doing whereas the fact is that I, for self and as constituted Attorney of my three sisters have sold total 7.19 acres of land on two separate occasions by Registered Sale Deeds: (2.10 acres to Boby Spinning Ltd., 1.30 acres to Boby Flat Bed Printing Ltd., and 1.30 acres to Hallmark Paper Mills Ltd. on 23/05/2011; and 2.49 acres to Farhan Fashion Ltd., Md. Tanvir Mahmud and Hall-Mark Accessories Ltd. on 23/01/2012).
“The land belonged to us as we inherited the same from our late father, who had purchased them in the year 1969. The property in question was our personal property and has nothing whatsoever to do with Transcom of which 1 am a Director. No transaction has ever been made by or in the name of Transcom and no money was received by any Transcom entity either directly or indirectly from Hallmark. Hence, the suggestion of transferring money into Transcom’s account by Hall-Mark Group is completely false.”
