Leaders of left Democratic Alliance in Kishoreganj protest rallies on Tuesday called on the ruling Awami League government to withdraw the increased price of edible oil and take steps to control price hikes of essential commodities.
Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BASOD) Biplobi Workers Party and the Socialist Party of Bangladesh (Marxist) leaders issued the call from the protest rallies in front of Rongmahal Cinema hall (Gourango Bazar) in the town
CPB in Kishoreganj President Comrade Abdur Rahman said that business syndicates had created an artificial crisis of soya bean oil and the commerce ministry had recently allowed an increase in the price of soya bean oil by Tk 38 per litre, which proved that the government was patronising the dishonest businesspeople.
The Left leaders who chaired the rally, called on the government to take immediate steps to reduce the price hikes of the essential commodities, which had created sufferings of the common people after the Covid crisis.
BASOD district coordinator Comrade Advocate Shafiqul Islam also called on the government to introduce mass rationing across the country to give people essential commodities at cheaper prices.
Biplobi Workers Party, district secretary Comrade Nazrul Islam Shajahn, CPB, ex, district president Syed Nazrul Islam, Comrade Enamulb Haque, and others spoke at the protest rally too.
