Human rights of tea workers must be upheld

Due to low wages and deprivation of all kinds of civic facilities, tea workers are lagging behind in all indicators of quality of life. It is alleged that even though new wages are supposed to be implemented every year, the tea workers have not been given new wages in the last 19 months. Tea workers were protesting to demand an increase in wages. When the owner offered to add 14 taka to the current wage to make the total 134 taka, the tea workers rejected the proposal and were adamant on demanding a daily wage of 300 taka. In this case, the comments of the labor leaders are that it is difficult to live on a salary of 120 taka; In addition, workers are not paid the 120 taka they deserve if they fail to pick at least 23 kg of tea leaves per day. However, tk. 170 has been announced as the latest daily wage for tea workers.
In this case, the government should think more. There is no doubt that tea industry will be at the pinnacle of development if the obstacles in the development of the tea industry with immense potential are removed, the industry is uplifted to the modern and expected standards and the fair rights and quality of life of the workers are improved, there is no doubt.
