For the fifth time in their football history, Abahani Limited captured the B-League title, highest by any team–an inspiration for others to follow. For this, we congratulate the club officials, the players and the coach and shall ask them to continue in the days to come.
We also remember Sheikh Kamal, the architect of the club and who introduced modern technique of football in this country by hiring an European coach early seventies. Had Kamal survived more, the country’s sports arena would have profited much.
In this connection, we censure Feni Soccer club and Uttar Baridhara for not playing the play-off match to decide which team will be relegated and tell the club officials that if any club does it in other country, suspension order will chase them. Now we wait what action does the country’s soccer governing body take against the two clubs for violating the by-laws of the B-League?
We further demand revival of the Dhaka Senior Division and second Division Soccer Leagues and the Aga Khan Gold Cup Football tournament if the federation wants to save the country’s football from complete annihilation.
