Railway has no timetable

The Bangladesh Railway unlike all the railway companies of the world does not print timetable regardless of the passengers’ demand. This bad practice began from early nineties. The matter does not end here. About 169 railway stations have been closed since independence, instead of opening of new stations. This is really sign of the railway administration’s incompetence and apathy.
In this column, I have tried on several occasions to draw the attention of the ministry of communication and the ministry of railway as well as the railway board, but
in vain because of their indifference to the burning issue.
I have urged them also to consult with the Indian Railways as to how to modernise the railway communication in Bangladesh for the convenience of its millions of passengers. May we hope that all concerned will pay heed to our requirements?

Roads need quick repair

The part of the road between Gopibagh railway gate and the Gopibagh Jame Mashjid, and that of the road between the Shantipur High School and the Ali Ahmad School and College in Goran under Khilgaon Police Station need rapid repairs. It is surprising that for a long time the damaged parts of these two roads have not been repaired for several years.
As such, we like to draw the attention of the mayor and the two councillors to take action in this regard.
