Bangladesh in Commonwealth Games

Bangladesh has returned from Scotland’s Glasgow with just one silver medal, coming from shooting. The Bangladesh Olympic Association sent a 30-member team in the 19th Commonwealth Games concluded on Sunday. Astonishingly the officials were more than athletes in number, which couldn’t be thought of in any other country of the world.
However, the first three nations were England 58-59-57, Australia 49-42-46 and Canada 32-16-34.
Bangladesh secured one gold, one silver and one bronze medals from 2010 Asian Games held in China. Bangladesh’s best medal earning discipline was shooting but that could not be possible because the standard of several Asian nations, including China and South Korea, is of world eminence. The gold medal came from cricket (men), silver from cricket (women) and bronze from kabadi (women). The first three nations’ medal standings were as follows:
China 199-119-98, South Korea 76-65-91 and Japan 48-74-94.
Bangladesh could not win any medal in the World Olympics as yet. Nobody knows whether it will be possible at all on any day. The three top nations in the medal standings were USA 46-29-29, China 38-27-23 and Great Britain 29-17-19.
SAARC champions India sent an 83-member team in the competition to take part in 13 disciplines and were able to win just two silver medals and four bronzes. In the latest Asian Games in 2010 India harpooned 14 gold medals and in the just concluded Commonwealth Games 15 gold medals.
