Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has been implementing two major road uplift projects aimed at freeing the metropolis from traffic congestion besides making the public life more vibrant. The schemes are construction works of the remaining two lane flyovers over Mohanpur Railway crossing and elevation of the 4.17 kilometer Bhadra Railway crossing to Naodapara bus terminal road to 80-feet wide along with a road-divider and another lane for non-mechanized vehicles.
The 203-meter wide flyover having 9.40-meter footpath and nine spans is being constructed with an estimated cost of around Tk 40.79 crore while road elevation scheme with an outlay of around Tk 69.57 crore.
City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton visited the ongoing works to see for himself progress Sunday asking the engineers, contractors and others concerned to maintain quality so that the city dwellers can derive total benefits of those.
Mayor Liton said the infrastructure development works are being implemented as part of RCC’s Taka 2,993-crore project titled ‘Integrated Urban Infrastructure Development in Rajshahi City’.
Under the mega project, the RCC is going to construct five more flyovers soon for overall development of the metropolis through freeing it from traffic congestion.
Liton said the Rajshahi City will get a new look upon successful implementation of the mega project.
