An old man named Sayed Hasan Mir (60) of village Sarfpur under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district was arrested at Monday night from a market of the village by a contingent of RAB-6, Khulna on the charge of committing rape forcibly with a girl student (11) of Class-VI of the same village, according to a delayed report received here.
It is learnt from the father of the victim and police that on Monday afternoon while the victim girl was returning home from the school the old debauched Hasan Mir, son of one late Habib Mir of the village caught the girl and took her to his own betel-nut garden where he committed rape with the girl forcibly. At one stage when the girl groaned out some locals rushed to the spot the rapist fled away. In this connection the father of the victim girl lodged a case with Rampal PS at Tuesday night.
