Election of Rangpur’s Haragachh municipality will be held . The Election Commission has already completed all the preparations. Extensive security measures have been taken to maintain law and order. Members of the law enforcement agencies engaged in security, including the delivery of election materials to each polling station, have been sent to the polling stations. Earlier, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Alim Mahmud gave a briefing to the police and Ansar members in charge of security of the polls at Haragachh Multipurpose High School ground on Saturday noon.
In order to avoid all kinds of chaos in the election, besides the police, 3 teams of RAB and 4 teams of BGB will be on full-time patrol. There will also be 9 executive magistrates and 1 judicial magistrate.
In this election, 4 candidates are contesting for the post of mayor, 10 candidates are contesting for the post of three reserved women councilors and 62 candidates are contesting for the post of councilor in 9 wards.
