UNB, Dhaka :
Railways Minister M Mazibul Hoque on Friday visited Kamalapur Railway Station and enquired about the steps taken for ensuring a smooth journey of homebound people ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
He walked through the station platform, talked to senior railway officials and passengers.
The minister also got into compartments of Chittagong-bound ‘Subarna Express’ train and exchanged views with the passengers.
“It seemed to me that there will be a smooth journey. I found no problem. Authorities deserve a big thank,” Parvez Chowdhury, a banker who is travelling to Chittagong, told UNB after the minister left the station.
He, however, said such smooth journey should be ensured on all the routes.
Tight security measures have been taken in and around the station with the deployment of additional security personnel.
Railway officials said train communication from Dhaka remained smooth without delay despite huge rush.
At Kamlapur Railway Station, some passengers were seen travelling sitting on train rooftops.
