Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society upset upper ranked Muktijoddha Sanghsad Krira Chakkra by 3-2 goals in the 2nd leg match of the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier Football League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Saturday.
With day’s well merited victory, the old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj MFS advanced to the 8th slot in the league table from nine securing 14 points from 16 matches while the freedom fighters team Muktijoddha remained at 6th place with their previous credit of 22 points from 17 matches.
In the day’s match, striker Nurul Absar put Rahmatganj ahead in the 31st minute by a side volley, capitalizing on a curved left wing corner from midfielder Yeasin (1-0).
Rahmatganj came close to double the margin in the 54th minute, but Muktijoddha goalie Titumir Chowdhury saved his castle brilliantly punching away a left footer of forward Nurul Absar.
Senegalese forward of Muktijoddha Camara Sarba leveled the margin in the 62nd minute by a good header, utilizing a cross of substitute midfielder Hasanuzzaman Kayes (1-1).
Rahmatganj MFS took lead again in the 66th minute when their Nigerian forward Gideon Solomon, taking a ball from midfield and entered the danger zone to place it to home after beating opponent custodian Titumir (2-1)
Gideon Solomon further widen the Rahmatganj lead in the 85th minute scoring his 2nd goal by a header, off a Nurul Absar cross from the right flank (3-1)
Muktijoddha reduced the margin through a penalty in the 87th minute. Rahmatganj defender Shawkat Rasel brought down Muktijoddha forward Camara Sarba in the danger zone and referee pointed his finger for spot kick.
Striker Enamul Haque did no mistake to convert a penalty (3-2).
