Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained sixteen brokers from in front of the city’s passport office at Agargaon on Sunday afternoon.
Acting on a tip off, RAB Officials conducted a drive to nab the brokers.
Rayhan Uddin Khan, Operation Officer of RAB-2 said, some brokers were making money with false promise of issuance of passport quickly.
The detainees would be punished according to the law of the mobile court, he said. They are now in RAB custody.
The RAB has conducted the drive to save those seeking passport from harassment of the brokers, he said adding the law enforcing agencies conduct occasional raid to free the passport office from the menace of brokers.
