Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) detained more than 100 persons, including 12 women during an anti-narcotics drive in the Geneva camp of the capital on Friday.
“We started five-hour drive at Geneva camp around 5:30am and picked up over 100 persons suspecting their connection to illegal drugs,” said Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan, Director of RAB’s Legal and Media Wing in a press briefing.
The elite force also seized a huge quantity of illegal yaba tablets and phensidyls, and arrested
the suspects and seized the drugs from 13 spots in the area.
“We got information that the drug peddlers who were previously arrested by RAB have started the same heinous work again after securing bail. Then around 400 members of the RAB conducted the raid in the camp to arrest them,” the director said.
He said that during the raid, no persons were allowed to enter or to leave the camp.
“We have arrested only those who were linked to the illegal drugs,” Mufti Mahmud said.
Bomb disposal unit and Dog Squad of the RAB-2 took part in the raid.
