bdnews24.com :The Cabinet has approved a proposal to relax quota restrictions to fill up the vacancies in special categories through the 34th and the 35th BCS tests. Now, candidates from the general merit list will be recruited to the posts left vacant due to the shortage of qualified applicants in the freedom fighter, women or ethnic quotas.The approval was given at the weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Secretariat on Monday, said Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam.There are 672 vacant posts in the technical and the professional cadre categories of the 34th BCS, he said.General candidates from the 35th BCS merit list would be hired for these posts, in addition to the 1,803 posts already set aside for the batch of first-class public servants.The same will happen in the case of the 35th BCS, the secretary said.”Many posts remain vacant due to a shortage of qualified candidates from the freedom fighter, women, ethnic and other quotas. That is why the cabinet gave the approval.”
