BSS, Dhaka :
Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader, MP, on Friday said that his party would win in next general election.
“We are fully confident that Awami League will achieve its victory in next election,” he told journalists after a joint-meeting of AL and its associate bodies at AL President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office here.
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, added: “Awami League is always ready to take part in polls if Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants to hold election in advance.”
The minister was very critical of BNP’s agitation and said they (BNP) announced agitation programme even against the court, if any decision went against their party interest.
He said BNP ultimately has no capacity to launch any movement except killing the people through arson attacks what it did in last five years.
Earlier, the AL General Secretary gave the party leaders and workers a guideline to mark the Victory Month (December) and the Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In the meeting, various programmes were set to mark Martyred Intellectuals Day on Dec 14, Victory Day on Dec 16, Democracy Preservation Day on Jan 5 and Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day on Jan 10.
AL Joint-General Secretaries Advocate Dr Dipu Moni, Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, among others, attended the meeting.
