PSC sub-committee unhappy over Ctg Port activities

The members of the sub-committee-1 of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of P Shipping expressed dissatisfaction over the progress of Bay Terminal and Laldiarchar bulk terminal project and non-procurement of cargo and container handling equipments timely.
This expressions was placed before the meeting of the sub-committee at Bandar Bhaban Board room on Monday by the members with head of the subcommittee MA Latif MP in the chair.
 Chairman of Ctg Port and other high officials were present in it, sources said. The other two members of the committee viz. Nurul Islam Sujon MP and Anowarul Azim Anar were also present in it.
 Before the meeting , the members of the committee physically witnessed the loading unloading activities of the port .
The committee members inspected the port activities following the allegations of equipment crisis , decreasing of gross output etc so made by different quarters.
Meeting sources said committee members sought reports on procurement of handling equipments and progress report of the proposed project from the port authority . The committee members opined CP at present unable to face the alarming increase of export and imports volume and hoped to upgrade the present situation very shortly.
On the other hand, Member (Admn and Planning) Md. Zafar Alam did not admit the matter of dissatisfactions of the committee members.
He said committee members desire to know the present progress of handling capacity and the remedial measures of handling capacity.
Accordingly Port chairman presented the progress report before the members, he added. He further said committee members discussed different matters of the port in the meet.
