Staff reporter: A protest meeting held in London on Tuesday demanding the release of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, who is imprisoned for more than two years for a graft case which her party called a fake and politically motivate case.
‘Free Khaleda Zia Movement-UK’ organized the protest meeting.
More than 100 BNP leaders participated in the program.
Former central leader of Juba Dal Ashiqur Rahman Ashiq was the Chief Guest and Secchashebok Dal central leader and Social Welfare Affair Secretary of Khulna district BNP Mongur Hassan Poltu was the main speaker in the programme.
Habibur Rahman, Convener of Free Khaleda Zia Movement and Secchashebok dal UK Vice-President, Chaired the programme.
Qazi Faysal Ahmed, leader of UK Secchashebok dal and MA Shamim, Joint-Convener of Free Khaleda Zia Movement moderated the protest meeting.

The activists chanted different slogans demanding immediate release of Khaleda Zia.
Main Speaker Mongur Hassan Poltu said the Awami League government has sent Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia to jail in a fabricated case as per their vengeances.
He accused the Awami League government of seizing state power using muscle with widespread irregularities in the so-called national polls and laundering people’s money to abroad.
“In Bangladesh, opposition activists are pushed to a horrifying situation through force disappearance, killing and implicating with false cases,” he said.
The main speaker warned the government saying that days are not far away; this government will be compelled to release Begum Khaleda Zia- the mother of democracy. People will compel the government to step down from state power.
He demanded immediate release of the BNP Chairperson and to ensure her adequate medical treatment.
Otherwise, he warned, the people of Bangldesh will start hard agitation in country and abroad to press home the demand.
