Speakers at a daylong training course have stressed for ensuring proper management in cooperative societies to make cooperative movement successful aiming at building a middle income nation by alleviating poverty.
They were addressing concluding ceremony of the course on cooperative related rules, laws and issues organised by District Cooperative Office at Singardabri School & College auditorium under Rajarhat upazila in Kurigram on Tuesday afternoon.
Deputy Registrar (Admin) of Rangpur Divisional Cooperative Office Mrs. Irene Sultana attended and addressed the training course as the chief guest with Rajarhat Upazila Cooperative Officer Mahbubul Islam in the chair.
District Cooperative Officer of Kurigram AKM Nazmul Huda addressed the training course as the special guest.
General Secretary of Singardabrihat Multipurpose Cooperative Society Sekendar Ali Bablu, President of China Bazaar Fishermen Cooperative Society Swapan Sarker, President of Ghorialdanga Fishermen Cooperative Society Madhu Mian and local elite Altaf Hossain Sarker addressed. Fiftieth members of six cooperative societies from all over Rajarhat upazila participated in the daylong training course that ended in the evening.
The speakers put emphasis on strengthening the cooperative movement at the grassroots levels, enhancing cooperative loan schemes for small and marginal farmers, fishermen and fish farmers, small-scale rural entrepreneurs and backward sections in the society.
They asked for making best use of cooperative allocations, being provided by the government, for effective cooperative management at the grassroots level to accelerate the process of developing human resources to alleviate poverty.
The chief guest urged members of the cooperative societies for working with social obligation to make the cooperative movement successful ensuring transparency and good governance to root out poverty in building a middle income Bangladesh by 2021.
