Aziza murder: Prime accused among 2 held

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two accused, including the prime accused, from Mirergaon village of Bishwanath upazila in Sylhet district in connection with the burning of Aziza Akhter, to death.
So far, three accused, out of the seven, in the case have been arrested.
They arrested persons are Beauty Begum, 26, and Sanowara Begum, 50, from Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi, and Md Moniruzzaman, said RAB-9 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Ali Haidar Azad.
“They were handed over to the respective police station where a case was filed in connection with killing of Aziza, the RAB official said.
Aziza has been burnt to death at the order of her aunt on suspicion of stealing a mobile phone set in Narsingdi, he claimed.
Rehena Begum, mother of the victim, alleged that her sister-in-law, wife of Saudi expatriate Abdus Salam, the younger brother of Abdus Sattar, beat up Aziza accusing her of stealing a mobile phone set and threatened her to burn alive around 4:00pm on Friday.
Earlier, Aziza, 14, received burn injuries on Friday night when she was set afire. She succumbed to serious burns at the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital early Saturday.
She was tied to a tree and set alight pouring kerosene, official sources said.
Abdus Sattar, father of victim Aziza Begum, filed the case with Shibpur police station, mentioning names of four accused on Saturday.
After filing the case, Police arrested Tamuza Begum, an accused of the case which was filed for brutal murder of Aziza. She has been already taken to police custody for a two-day as per the remand order of a Narsingdi court.
