Due to the prevailing high prices of fish and meat common people were mainly dependent on eggs. But the prices of all kinds of eggs have suddenly shot up abnormally in Bagerhat district markets. As a result, the common people have been thrown into an utter distress. Eggs produced in farms are being sold here at Tk 7.5 according to sizes instead of Tk5 to Tk 6 in the last week while the per Hally of locally produced eggs is sold here at Tk40 to Tk 44 as against of Tk32 to 36.
Prices of all kinds of poultry birds have also increased. Broiler is selling in the local markets at Tk120 per kg instead of Tk110 previously. Layer is selling at Tk 230 per kg as against of Tk200 previously. Local poultry bird is selling at Tk.300 or more per kg as against of Tk.280 previously.
Price of all kinds of winter vegetables is within the reach of the common people. But the price of summer vegetables like Dheras and Usche is abnormally high. Both Dheras and Usche are selling in the local markets at Tk.120 per kg.
