President Abdul Hamid on Monday attended namaz-e-janaza of valiant freedom fighter and parliament member of Tangail-8 constituency Showkat Momen Shajahan at parliament premises here.
Cabinet members, members of parliament and leaders of different political parties also joined the namaz-e-janaza after Zohr prayers.
After the namaj-e-janaza, President Abdul Hamid paid his tribute to Showkat Momen Shajahan by placing wreath at coffin of the valiant freedom fighter.
After the President, on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina her Military Secretary Major General Mia Mohammad Joynul Abedin placed wreath at the coffin.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and other ministers also placed separate wreaths at the coffin.
Earlier in separate messages of condolence, the President and Prime Minister expressed deep shock at the death of Showkat Momen Shajahan They prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
