The first death anniversary of Alhaj ShafiqulIslam Chowdhury alias Baby Chowdhury , President of Raozan Upazila AL and former Poura Mayor was observed on Friday evening at Raozan .
In connection, a traditional mezban(foods for destitute) was arranged at his native residence at Sultanpur village yesterday followed by a discussion meeting held at college auditorium with upazila AL President Kamaluddin in the chair. Former Ambassador and lawmaker also President of North district AL , Chittagong Alhaj Nurul Alam Chowdhury graced the occasion as chief guest while the chairman of Parliamentary standing committee on Ministry of Railway ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury MP spoke in it as principal speaker of the discussion meeting .
The chief guest in his brief deliberations said Baby Chowdhury has devoted his life for the ideals and principles of Awami league from his early hood and was a friend of the party during crucial period of the party. He also said this devoted leader of the party lost his all belongings by the thrash of the opposition parties and his printing press was also burnt by the miscreants during pre-AL regime. The principal speaker on the occasion ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury MP said Baby Chowdhury was the guardian of the new generations of Raozan and was a true and honest leader of the party and he never involved in any politics subversive to the state. Panel Mayor Bashir Khan moderated the discussions.
Among others upazila chairman of Raozan Ehsanul Haider Chowdhry Babul, former lawmaker Pyrarul Islam, Jamiruddin Parvez, Principal Abdur Rashid, Principal Kafil Ahmed, Shaiful Islam Chowdhury Rana, UP Chairman Abdul Jabbar Sohel, Ahsan Habib Chowdhury and Hasan Jasimuddin Hero, UP chairman, spoke on the occasion.
