PM provides 1 m US dollars for cyclone-affected Fiji

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina provided cash assistance of one million US dollars (Tk 8 crore) for the people of Fiji who were affected in a recent devastating cyclone, said a PMO release on Sunday. The South Pacific island country experienced the ‘human disaster’ due to the cyclone on February 20. Cyclone Winston, the worst storm recorded in the southern hemisphere, left 42 people dead and made tens of thousands homeless in Fiji, according to Fiji’s National Disaster Management Office. Earlier, the Bangladesh Prime Minister provided cash and food assistance to Nepal after a devastating earthquake devastated the Himalayan nation on April 25 in 2015.
