Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Dr A M Harun Ar Rashid, an Ekushey and Independence Awards winning distinguished physicist and “Bose Professor” of the Department of Physics, Dhaka University.
In a condolence message, she said, “Professor Harun Ar Rashid was not just a physicist, he was a dedicated soul to scientific research.”
In addition to the regular research, Sheikh Hasina said, “He (Dr Harun) has played an invaluable role in physics education, especially in the teaching of physics in Bangla”
She noted that his death has created a huge void in the field of science education and research in the country.
The Prime Minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
