Planning Minister seeks Japanese support in communication sector

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has sought support from the Japanese government in constructing underground rail, metro rail to address traffic congestion in the capital.
The Planning Minister sought the support during his bilateral meetings with Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Affairs Minister, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Japan External Trade Organization and JICA president on November 19 in Tokyo, said a press release of the Planning Ministry.
The release said that in response, Japan has expressed their deep interest to invest in Bangladesh.
He said that the Japanese side has termed the proposal of building metro rail and underground rail in Dhaka as very positive, practical and time befitting and suggested Bangladesh to place a final proposal in this regard to Japan.
In response, the Japanese Trade Minister expressed his deep gratitude to Bangladesh for withdrawing its candidature from the Asia Pacific Group for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council and extending support in favour of Japan.
