Three fishermen were shot by a gang of pirates in the Bay of Bengal early Tuesday.
The injured were identified as M Elias, 45, M Mosharraf, 22 and Mozammel Haque, 25, all hailed from Noakhali district.
Nayek Shilabrata Barua of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost said that a gang of pirates opened fire on them while they were fishing at Baishban area of Jinjira.
The pirates also looted their nets and fishes, but they somehow managed to flee the scene. Meanwhile, the injured fishermen were taken to the CMCH for treatment.
