A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested son of the owner of Pinak-6 launch from a residence in the city’s Khilkhet area early Friday in connection with the recent launch capsize incident in Padma River. The arrested person has been identified as Omar Faruk Limon, 27, son of Abu Bakkar Siddique alias Kalo, No. 3 accused in the launch capsize case, RAB officials said. RAB’s Media Wing Commander Mufti Mahamud Khan confirmed the matter and said that a special team of Rab-1 conducted a drive in a house in Khilkhet area and arrested him around 2:30 am.Earlier, the RAB-11 in a drive arrested AB Siddique, the owner of the sunken launch at Agrabad in Chittagong city early Wednesday.The overloaded launch Pinak-6 capsized in the Padma River, 800 yards off Mawa ghat (jetty) on August 4 with over 200 passengers on board while it was heading towards the jetty.Forty eight bodies were recovered from the Meghna and Padma rivers till Tuesday night after the launch capsized in the mighty river.According to a list of Munshiganj district administration, 62 passengers of the ill-fated launch are still missing.The operation to salvage sunken launch ‘Pinak-6’ was abandoned due to strong current as well as rough weather on August 11.
