Staff Reporter :The monitoring team formed by Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) has started their work to investigate the incident of Rakibul Murder in Khulna. The members of the team have talked to doctors of Khulna Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday morning. “They visited the Sharif’s Motors at Tutpara Kabarkhana Road where Rakib was tortured to death. They also went to Rakib’s house on the Tutpara Central Road,” Deputy Commissioner of KMP Md Mostafa Kamal told The New Nation on Wednesday.The police official said, “He along with Divisional Commissioner Md Abdus Samad visited Rakib’s house and talked to his mother. They also gave assurance of proper investigation into the case.”In the meantime, one of the witnesses has given a statement in connection the gruesome murder, sources said. Earlier, KMP formed a three-member monitoring cell led by KMP Additional Commissioner Mahbub Hakim to oversee and help the ongoing investigation into the killing incident of Md Rakibul Islam, KMP Additional Commissioner (Special Branch) and its spokesman Maniruzzaman told The New Nation on Wednesday.The other members of the probe body are Assistant Police Commissioner Maniruzzaman Mithu and Assistant Police Commissioner Humayun Kabir, the police official said.Maniruzzaman said that the decision in this regard was taken on Wednesday morning to expedite submission of the report of the case filed in connection with the heinous incident. “The body will not submit any report over the issue. Its sole duty is to help the investigation team of the case so that they can finish the probe and submit the report as early as possible,” the spokesman said.Mewnwhile, locals have called for trying the murderers of Md Rakib in a Special Trial Tribunal. People from different strata of the society raised the demand from a human chain in the city on Wednesday.At the gathering, coordinator of Human Rights of Khulna unit Mominul Islam called for the submission of charge sheets soon.President of Jano Uddog Kudrot-e-Khuda presided over the meeting. Among others, former MP Nazrul Islam Manju, Khulna Sadar thana Officer-in-Charge Sukumar Biswas and TIB’s Professor Rama Rahman and Jano Uddog’s General Secretary of Khulna unit Mahendra Nath Sen spoke at the human chain. Rakib’s younger sister Meem and mother Laki Begum were also present.Barely a month after the chilling murder of Sylhet teenaged Samiul Alam Rajan, Md Rakib’s former employer and co-workers inserted a high-pressure air pump nozzle into his body through rectum and filled the body with air at a motorcycle repair shop in the city’s Tutpara Kabarkhana on Monday night.Following his death, outraged locals Tuesday broke into the garage and started beating Mintu, Sharif and Beauty. Later, police arrested the three and sent Mintu and Sharif to the prison cell of KMCH)for treatment.On the day, Rakib’s father Nurul Alam lodged a murder case with Sadar police station against the trio, and its Sub-Inspector Kazi Mostaque Ahmed was assigned to investigate the incident. Later, Sharif and Mintu took Rakib to a local clinic around 10:30 and tried to flee away from the scene. But locals caught the two torturers and handed them over to the local police station.
