BSS, Dhaka :
After the prolonged Eid and Puja holidays people are returning gradually to their work places.
This year, the holidays were especially long as the Durga Puja holiday, the biggest festival of Bengali Hindus, preceded the second biggest Muslim festival of Eid-ul-Azha by a couple of days.
The official holidays ended on Tuesday, but as the Bangladesh week-end starts from today many are extending their holidays to include it as well.
Despite the combination of holidays travel has been quite smooth: buses and trains were leaving on time.
Because of better management casualty was also at an all-time low.
Abu Taher, a government employee, told BSS that he had gone and returned from Comilla for the holidays without much of a hassle. The trains he had boarded were on time.
The station master of Kamalapur railway station said that considering safety, train schedules were slightly adjusted during the pre-Eid period but that is now back on track.
A supervisor of Shohag Paribahan, Belal, told BSS that passengers were returning gradually after the holidays. But he expected some rush tomorrow and the day after.
Mizanur Rahman Khan, a teacher, who returned from Chittagong, said there is hardly any traffic congestion on the highways, which he had apprehended.
Surprisingly, he added, there was little trouble going to Chittagong, either.
