Tens of thousands of people are desperately leaving the capital city on their way to village homes after the announcement of a seven-day ‘new lockdown’ from April 14..
The pressure of homebound people has been murmuring at the Gabtoli bus terminal in the capital since Monday morning.
They were looking for in various alternative ways as long distance transports have been suspended due to countrywide new strict lockdown.
As a result, they are suffering at every step. The elderly and children are the most affected in this case.
Those who are not getting transports, they have even started the journey on foot.
According to the source, the pressure of people for homes at Savar, Nabinagar, Gazipur and Dhaka-Tangail highways have increased remarkably.
On the other hand, Mawa was looked like human sea for past few days.
A long tailback was seen on the Dhaka-Chittagong and the Dhaka-Tangail highways from Monday morning.
Besides, ferry services were also crammed with huge number of home-bound people, adding sufferings to the commuters.
Sources said, the extra fare has been calculated to go to alternative vehicles.
Meanwhile, overflowing crowd was also noticed in the city’s Sayedabad bus terminal.
Even though long distance transports are closed, people are leaving the Dhaka city by small vehicles like rickshaws, vans, baby taxies, trucks, cars, pickups and microbuses.
Whenever any private car was seen, they asked, Will you go, how much is the fare? Some are even offering to manage passengers in exchange of money.
Many people even got angry when they saw the car of the media.
Many said, I do not understand the behavior of the governments. People are being harassed in this way.

Meanwhile, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has called for vigilance to ensure that cargo transport does not carry passengers transport during the all-out lockdown.
