Over 87.75 lakh people of safety net programmes under MIS

Data of over 87.75 lakh beneficiaries out of 88.50 lakh of four social safety net programmes under the social welfare ministry has been included in management information system (MIS).
The information was revealed at the 11th meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on social welfare ministry presided over by its Chairman Rashed Khan Menon at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here.
“Data of nearly 87 lakh 75 thousands and 600 beneficiaries out of 88.50 lakh has been brought under Management Information System (MIS) till June 7,” according to an official press release of the parliament secretariat here on Wednesday.
The committee also expressed satisfaction over enrolment of most of the beneficiaries under social safety net programmes in MIS and hoped that the data of rest of beneficiaries will be added to the system as soon as possible.
The committee also recommended inclusion of lawmakers of women reserved seat in the parliament along with the local lawmakers in social security programme under the ministry.
Various issues including progress of social safety net allowance distribution through government to person (G2P), the decision on Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahiyan Trust (Bangladesh) and ongoing programme of the ministry and its subordinate bodies during the second wave of novel corona virus have been discussed at the meeting.
Committee members Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed, its State Minister M Ashraf Ali Khan, Badruddoza Mohammad Farhad Ahmed, Aroma Dutta, Sabnam Jahan, Kazi Kaniz Sultana, and concerned officials also joined the meeting.
