Orion hits country’s footwear market

Orion Footwear, a concern of Orion Group, Tuesday started its journey in the country aiming to meet the increased demand of home market, which is being mainly dominated by a multinational firm and imported products.
The new brand is all set to start the sales of its products at the Dhaka International Trade Fair, which is scheduled to begin on Thursday.
On the other hand, it will open three stores in city’s Gulshan, Banani and Wari by mid-January to cater the demand of different segments of people especially middle to high-income groups.
Orion Group today introduced its footwear venture at a ceremony in a city hotel through unveiling Logo of the brand. Salman Obaidul Karim, managing director of Orion Group, and Ruhul Amin Molla, Chief Executive Officer of Orion Footwear, presented the logo before the media.
“Initially, we will open 10 outlets for the customers, of which eight will be in Dhaka while one each in Chittagong and Sylhet,” said Ruhul Amin.
He vowed to increase the outlet number to 30 by June next.
“We want to the number one footwear brand in next five year, and to attain the goal, we’ve planned to invest nearly Taka 200 crore,” added the Orion Footwear CEO.
The company will showcase its own-brand products, which will be conceived by its in-house design team and manufactured by local suppliers, as well as those from leading brands from abroad. Prices will range from Taka 500 to Taka 10,000 a pair.
