Bangladesh Hawkers Union
A rally organised by Bangladesh Hawkers Union was held in front of Victoria Park in the city’s Sadarghat on Monday. In the programme the leaders of the union urged the authority concerned to take necessary arrangements for running business of ten thousand hawkers in the old part of the city. They demanded to stop eviction of hawkers. The leaders of the union also demanded rehabilitation of hawkers before their eviction and formulation of national policy for hawkers’ management. President of the organisation Abdul Hashim Kabir presided over the event. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the union Sekendar Hayat, its Organising Secretary Mohammad Jashim Uddin, President of the union, Kotwali thana unit Abdul Quaiyum, its General Secretary Anisur Rahman Patwari, central leader Shahina Akhter, hawker leaders Mohammad Rabin, Mohammad Zahangir and Abul Khaer. The leaders warned they will forge greater movement if their demand was not met immediately.
