Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal
A discussion marking death anniversary of Colonel Taher,who was commander of Sector 11 during the 1971 Liberation War organised by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal was held in Shaheed Colonel Taher auditorium in the city on Sunday. In the programme the speakers said Colonel Taher was a great patriot and Ziaur Rahman was a traitor. They called upon the all patriotic individuals and forces to implement the dreams of all martyrs of the country. They demanded investigation of all killings inside armed forces during the regime of Ziaur Rahman. The function was addressed, among others, by Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua, JSD General Secretary Shirin Akhter, MP, journalist Shafiqur Rahman, MPand JSD Standing Committee Member and Taher’s younger brother Prof Dr Anwar Hossain. Vice-President of the organisation Mir Hossain Akhter presided over the event.
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society
New building of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society in Bandarban hill district was inaugurated. Minister for Chattogram Hill Tracts Bir Bahadur U Shwe Sing attended as the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony held on Saturday. The building was constructed at a cost of Taka 40 lakh at Meghla of Bandarban Sadar Upazila. Chairman of Bandarban Hill District Council Kyaw Shwe Hla presided over the meeting while senior government officials spoke on the occasion.
