A discussion on 144th birth anniversary of Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq organised by Jatiya Smaran Mancha was held at Swadhinata Hall of Dhaka Reporters Unity in the city’s Segunbagicha on Saturday. In the programme the speakers paid rich tributes to Sher-e-Bangla. While speaking they said Sher-e-Bangla was uncommon personality. He loved the people irrespective of caste, creed and colour. This is why, he became the best friend and leader of the mass people. The function was addressed, among others, by President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Advocate Joynul Abedin, President of a faction of Dhaka Union of Journalists Poet Abdul Hye Sikder, General Secretary of SCBA Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, freedom fighter and politician Ismail Hossain Bengal and President of Deshraksha Andolon M Sanwar Hossain. President of the organisation Engineer AHM Maniruzzaman Dewan Manik presided over the event.
Turkish Int’l Cooperation and Coordination Agency
300 metric tons of rice and other food grains were distributed among 1000 flood-affected families in Harirampur upazila of Manikganj district on the third instant organised by Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency. On the occasion, a function was held at Harirampur upazila auditorium. Folk singer Momtaj Begum, MP, took part in the function as the chief guest while Advocate Golam Mohiuddin, Chairman of
Manikganj Zila Parishad was present as the special guest. Arefin Rejwan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Harirampur, Iftekhar Hossain, Executive Director of Alokito Bangladesh Foundation, Md. Guljar Hossain, President of Harirampur Upazila Awami League and Dewan Abdur Rouf, Secretary of Upazila AL were present. The organisation distributed rice and other food items, including pulse, oil, sugar and salt, among the flood victims of Harirampur.

An emergency meeting organised by Forum for Protecting Primary Teachers’ Rights
was held at its central office in city’s Uttar Manikdia, Sabujbag . In the programme held recently the speakers demanded ban on coaching business and guide book to ensure quality primary education. They also called upon to stop examination business of primary schools. They said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and her daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina nationalized primary education to ensure rights of education of the poor people. Convenor of the forum Siddiqur Rahman presided over the event.
