Garments Sramik Federation
A human chain organised by Bangladesh Progatishil Garments Sramik Federation was formed in front of Jatiya Press Club in the city on Monday in observance of International Women’s Day. In the human chain the speakers demanded for eradication of disparity between male and female. They also called upon to stop repression on women. The event was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of Bangladesh Sramik Federation AAM Foiz Hossain, General Secretary of Progatishil Garments Sramik Federation Kamrun Nahar, General Secretary of Bangladesh Bhumihin Samity Subol Sarker, Women’s leader Jebin Aktar and President of Bangladesh Garments Workers Textile Federation Abul Hosain. President of the organisation Razia Begum presided over the programme.
Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad
Leaders and activists of Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad thronged Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the city’s Dhanmondi, 32 on Monday and paid deep homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to mark the 45th anniversary of his epoch-making speech of independence on historic March 7 in 1971. On this day in 1971, Bangabandhu delivered the speech of independence before a mammoth freedom-loving crowd of over one million people at the historic Race Course Maidan later named as Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka. In his 17-minute speech, Bangabandhu said, “The struggle this time is for our emancipation…the struggle this time is for our independence.”
