Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists
A memorial meeting organised by a faction of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) was held at Jatiya Press Club on Friday recalling the immense contribution of late journalist Altaf Mahmood, former BFUJ president to the welfare of journalists. Acting president of BFUJ Zafar Wazed presided over the programme. The event was addressed, among others, by Prime Minister’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, A Kha M Jahangir Hossain, MP, BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan, Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) Director General Shah Alamgir and BFUJ former president Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul. While speaking Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury said that Altaf was a person who dedicated his life for the welfare of journalists.
Muktijoddha Projanma League
A representatives meeting organised by Muktijoddha Projanma League was held at Swadhinata Hall at Segunbagicha in the city on Friday. Awami League Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hasan said BNP would plunge into the black hole if it doesn’t oust Tarique Rahman from his party post in its ensuing council. President of the organisation Asaduzzaman Durjoy presided over the meeting.
The programme was also addressed. among others, by Awami League presidium member Advocate Sahara Khatun and Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan. Turning to BNP’s ensuing council, Dr Hasan Mahmud said, “I would like to request the leaders-workers of BNP to oust those people from your party leadership whose hands were stained with bloods of human-beings and emitting stench of burnt out human bodies.
