An old man was killed and eight others were injured in a clash between two rival groups of people at Kutubpure Halimpur village in Bajitpur upazila of Kishoreganj district centering ownership right to a water body on Sunday evening.
The victim has been identified as Md. Amirul Haque (68) from Halimpur under Bajitpur upazila.
Seriously injured Uzzal Miah (32), Nikul Miah (23), Tanjil (20), Didar Uddin (22), Piplu (23), and Bashir Miah have been admitted to Zahurul Islam Medical College and Hospital.
A.S.P of Bajitpur upazila said there was a longstanding dispute between Amirul and Idress Miah over the
water body. Centering the issue, Uzzal along with his several supporters equipped with sharp weapons attacked Amirul’s residence.
On receipt of information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the dead body and sent it to the hospital for autopsy.
