Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam has said, there is no shame in cleaning one’s own house. “Let us all clean our houses every Saturday at 10 am for 10 minutes.
He urged the people on Saturday asking city dwellers to kill Aedes mosquitoes for preventing dengue and chikungunya,”

The mayor himself cleaned his house in Sector-4 of the capital Uttara at 10 am on Saturday. After the work, the mayor spoke to the media workers at Bangladesh Club around 10:30 am.
At that time the mayor took part in the event by coming to Facebook Live from his Uttara residence.
Speaking on Facebook Live, Mayor Atiqul Islam said that clean-up activities need to be transformed into a social movement. In order to prevent the spread of Aedes mosquitoes, everyone should clean their houses at 10:10 am every Saturday, avoiding shame.
The water in the tub where the trees are planted in the house should be discarded. If we do not alert ourselves, we will not be able to stop the spread of dengue, he said.
Besides, there are also abandoned bottles and tires outside the houses. You have to throw away the frozen water from them.
As aedes larvae are growing in clear water, so you have to clean your residence at your own responsibility. By doing this, we shall be able to keep our families and the shall people around us safe. So everyone’s awareness is important.
The DNCC mayor said that in order to ensure that no one dies of dengue and chikungunya during the corona situation, a 10-day mosquito eradication operation has been launched in 54 wards of 10 regions of Dhaka North City Corporation from July 27 to August 7. Everyone needs to be responsible citizens to prevent the spread of Aedes mosquitoes by keeping their homes and surroundings clean and tidy.
It is mentionable that the number of dengue patients is on the rise in the capital city with Corona epidemic. As a result most of the city dwellers are in serious panic realizing the gravity of the situation.
