At least nine more persons were killed in separate road crashes across the country on Sunday.
Of them, four died in Rangpur, two in Magura, two in Rajshahi and one in Dhaka.
In Rangpur, four passengers of an auto-rickshaw were killed when a bus hit the auto in Hazarihat area of Rangpur city on Sunday.
The deceased couldn’t be identified instantly.
The accident took place near Hazarihat Bridge area around 7am.
Monwar Hossain, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Rangpur Kotwali Police Station told the media that around three of the passengers died on the spot and another one succumed to injuries while undergoing treatment at hospital.
The bodies were recovered and sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) morgue.
Efforts are on to identify the deceased, added the SI. In Magura, Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Alamkhali and Ramnagar areas of Magura Saturday night.
Magura sadar thana police said, a truck rammed a shallow engine-propelled Nasimon, (a local human hauler)
leaving two persons including the driver injured, in Alamkhali area around 10pm.
The victim was rushed to the Sadar Hospital where the 20-year-old driver Rubel succumbed to his injuries.
On sources of Ramnagar Highway Police Outpost, a Dhaka-bound pick-up van hit a tree after losing control while overtaking another pick-up van, leaving an unidentified man dead on the spot. In Dhaka, a bicyclist was killed after being hit by a speedy private car in Khilgaon area of the capital on Sunday morning.
The deceased identified as Mostafa, 32, was a professional driver in a private company in Banani.
Fellow of the deceased Shahin Mandal said that Mostafa lived in Khilgaon area. He was critically injured when a car hit him while he was heading for office on a bicycle. He died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Mashiur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khilgaon Police Station told the media that the private car was seized, but driver managed to escape the scene.
In Rajshahi, two motorcyclists were killed after the bike they rode was hit by a truck in Choyghati area of Godagari upazila in Rajshahi on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Emdad Hossain Chandu, 50, from Faradpur village of the upazila and his relative Khusbu Tajnim, 14.
Confirming the matter to media, Jahangir Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Godagari Police Station said that Chandu and Tajnim were going to Rajshahi by a motorbike while a speedy truck from opposite rammed them on Rajshahi-Chapai Nawabganj highway leaving both dead on the spot.
The truck driver was detained. The bodies were sent to hospital for autopsy and a case is being filed over the incident, OC added.
