Police have recovered the body of Nigerian student Tahir Mannir Adamu from the lake of Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in Gazipur. The body was recovered around 10:45pm on Saturday, said Tongi Police Station OS Quazi Ismail Hossain. Nigerian citizen Tahir Mannir Adamu, 25, was a third year student of the university’s computer science department. He was a resident of South Hall. The hall’s assistant secretary Md Shamsuzzaman Chowdhury said Adamu was listening to music on his mobile phone beside the lake alone. Masud Miah, an employee of the university mosque, picked up a weird sound when Adamu fell into the water, he said. The student was drowned as he did not know how to swim. Adamu was unconscious when he was recovered from the lake and declared dead when taken to the Tongi Government Hospital, said OC Hossain. Vice Chancellor Imtiaz Hossain says an enquiry has been ordered into the incident. The body was now kept at Dhaka’s Samorita Hospital. It would be brought to Gazipur Sadar Hospital for post mortem, hall assistant secretary Chowdhury said.—- bdnews24.com
