AFP, Abuja :
Nigerian champions Kano Pillars, struggling in the top flight of the domestic league, have sacked their coach Okey Emordi, the club said on Monday.
Pillars spokesman Idris Malikawa said the board approved Emordi’s dismissal and that a meeting would be held on Tuesday to discuss a replacement.
The northern Nigerian side are currently ninth in the Nigeria Premier League with 27 points, nine points behind leaders Sunshine Stars and Enyimba halfway through the current season.
The club also failed to go past the first round of this year’s CAF
Champions league and were knocked out of the Federation Cup by lower league
outfit Plateau United.
Players and fans passed a vote of no confidence in Emordi, who last season
steered the club to a third, straight league championship.
