Notorious criminal held with LG in Manikganj

Manikganj Sadar thana police in a drive arrested a notorious criminal and recovered a country made Light Gun (LG) from the side of a bridge at Mehandhi bag village area under Sadar upazila in Manikganj on Monday evening. The arrestee was identified as Adam Ali, 28, son of Aowlad Hossain of Baro Shurondi village in Manikganj municipality area of the district. Officer -In -Charge of Sadar police station Md Rezaul Hoque said, acting on a tip-off, police came to know that a gang of miscreants were preparing to commit a crime in Mehandhi bag area along with fire arms. On the basis of the information, a team of Sadar thana police led by senior Sub-Inspector Mohammed Shah Alam along with forces launched the drive at Mehandhi bag village. Sensing the presence of the police the most of the criminals fled away the scene, but Adam failed. The police detained Adam and recovered a country made Light Gun (LG) from his position.
6 injured in post-polls violence in Jhenidah

At least six persons were injured in a post- polls clash at Kalikapur village in Jhenidah municipal area on Monday afternoon. The injured are Nazirul Islam, Sariful Islam, Qamrul Islamn and Abu Bakar.They all belong to Kalikapur village. They have been rushed to Jhenidah sadar hospital for treatment. Of them two persons have taken first aid from clinics of the district town. Jhenidah police station sub inspector Ziaraul Islam said, some 10 to 12 supporters of winning independent candidates were returning home from the town at about 5.30 PM. A gang of miscreants belongs to defeated Awami League candidate led by Khairul Islam swooped on them and started stabbing and beating up at Kalikapur Tromohini. They have also vandalized 2 houses of the loyalist of winning candidates. The attack was occurred following casting vote in favour of the independent candidate. A case was filed with Jhenidah police stsion in this connection, the police said.
Body recovered in Chapainawabganj

An unidentified dead body was recovered from the river Mohananda at Maharajpur under Chapainawabganj sadar upazila on Monday noon.Police said, seeing a dead body floating in the river Mohananda the locals informed the police of Chapainawabganj sadar thana of this. At this police recovered the dead body at around 12 noon and sent it to Chapainawabganj sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
Housewife’s body found in Bhola
Bhola: Police recovered the body of a housewife with the throat slashed from Sadapur village in Lalmohon upazila on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Joytsna Begum, wife of Yusuf of the village. Police, quoting locals, said Yousuf on Sunday midnight had wanted some money from Joytsna for burying drugs, which she refused to give. Being angered, Yousuf might have killed his wife and even attempted to commit suicide at that time. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Bhola district hospital morgue for an autopsy. Police also arrested Yousuf from the house. Officer-in-charge of Lalmohon Police Station Khandakar Mizanur Rahman said Yousuf was a drug addict. He might have killed his wife for drug money, reports UNB.
