RCC announces Tk 801.24 cr budget

Rangpur City Corporation [RCC] announced a budget of 801 cores 24 lakh 7 thousands 620 taka for the city for the fiscal year of 2016-17 on Monday noon. The Mayor Shorfuddin Ahamed Jhantu announced the budget at a press conference at city corporation auditorium. City corporation Chief Executive officer, councilors, leaders of different professional organizations and civil rights groups attended the programme. The mayor said, no new tax was imposed on the city dwellers in the budget. He however said, communication development, removing traffic congestion in the city and building recreational spots for city dwellers were given special priority in the budget . Some 645 cores 5 lakhs 72 thousands 784 taka for the fiscal year of 2015-2016. Ninety percent works of the budget were implemented, the mayor added.  

Man held with fake notes in Sylhet

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a man along with fake currency notes from main gate of the Circuit House in the city on Monday night. The arrestee was identified as Abul Bashar Tuhin, 45, son of late Ai Haider, a resident of Tajpur village in Osmaninagar upazila. Ziaul Haque, assistant director of Rab-9, said a team of the elite force arrested him from the area around 10.30pm along with 50 forged notes of Tk 1000 denomination. Later the arrestee was handed over to Kotowali Police Station.

RAB recover two pipe guns in Sunamganj

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel in a raid recovered two pipe guns from Dakhshin Arfin Nagar area in Sunamganj district town on Monday night. Sources said on secret information a team of the elite force led by Additional Police Superintendent Kazi Moniruzzaman and company commander of RAB -9, CPC-3, conducted a raid on the north side of Teghoria government pond in the area around 10.30pm. They recovered the pipe guns in an abandoned condition, according to a news agency report.

BGB recovers pistol in C’nawabganj

UNB, Chapainawabganj

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh recovered a pistol, five rounds of bullets and two magazines from Boglauri village in Shibganj upazila early Wednesday. Acting on secrete information, a team of the border guards conducted a drive at the village around 2am and recovered the pistol, bullets and magazines concealed inside a heap of straw, said Lt Col SM Abul Ehsan, captain of Chapainawabganj BGB battalion-9. Later, the recovered items were handed over to Shibganj Police Station.
